VOLUNTEER

Community involvement is vital to the success of our PTO programming. All PTO events and activities at Cedar Way are planned, organized, and produced by volunteers.

We need your help to make a difference!

Committees and roles are listed below. Let us know if you would like to join or participate at board@cedarwaypto.org

You can also follow along and stay up-to-date on our community Facebook page!

PTO Volunteer Roles & Positions

Note - for activities occurring in the school building during school hours, volunteers will need to complete a volunteer form and be cleared for a background check through the District.  Requirements may change year-to-year, so always check with the district website and remember to renew annually.

School Directory Coordinator

2023-2024 - Shane Duff, Christie Cotterill

  • Own the communication and organization of the school directory. Each year, the PTO gathers each student's name and contact information and then organizes this information based on classroom rosters. This list is for parent-to-parent or student-to-student connections and communication throughout the year.

  • Commitment: This is a single project, estimated 8-10 hours total at the beginning of the school year only

Community Events Organizer

2023-2024 -  Kelcie Trine, +1 open

  • Help plan and execute school-wide community events. In the past, CWE PTO has hosted Movie Nights, Skate Nights at Lynnwood Bowl and Skate, and Family Day at the Aquasox. While we have most of these events lined up, we are looking for support with execution.

  • Commitment: We aim for 3-6 per year.

Website Support

2023-2024 - Kelly Grinsell, +1 open

  • CWE PTO is looking for a website refresh and a potential change to our current website platform this year. Are you well-versed in Wix or other easy-to-use web design platforms? Our site is simple but clunky on the backend. This would be a short-term position to migrate us to a new design/platform and update the content.

  • CWE PTO board members can maintain content post-launch.

  • Commitment: Approximately 2-3 hours to meet and plan. Design and migration hours tbd.

SpirtWear Sales Coordinator (Fall and Spring)

2023-2024 - Stephanie Eshuis

  • Research and secure vendors for CWE SpiritWear. Currently, we host a SpirtWear shop twice a year. This position includes pricing, working with vendors on designs, and creating online store/ordering capabilities. This position is also responsible for following up with vendors to ensure CWE PTO receives the kickback from sales.

  • Commitment: Approximately 3-4 hours for each session - fall and spring.

Enrichment Programs Coordinator

2023-2024 - +2 open

  • Research and present after-school enrichment programs for CWE. Enrichment programs are paid programs families can enroll their students in after school. In the past, we have used Brickz for Kids, Smart with Art, and sports programs.

  • Commitment: Approximately 2-3 hours every month.

Kindergarten Playdates

2023-2024 - Kadee Gray, Kelcie Trine

  • Incoming kinder parents are already affiliated with the school to plan play dates for incoming kindergarten families. These playdates would occur in the spring before kindergarten starts, over the summer, and during the week of Kindergarten Jumpstart.

  • Commitment: Approximately 2-3 hours total, once in the spring and summer.

Spanish Translator

2023-2024 -  Marisel Zamora, +1 open

  • Translate the monthly PTO newsletter plus miscellaneous collateral throughout the year. We also have one-off events like the PTO Directory (September/October) and Read-a-thon materials (March).

  • Commitment: Approximately 2-3 hours per month.

Communications Support

2023-2024 - Kadee Gray, +1 open

  • Create graphics in Canva, schedule Facebook events, send emails to the PTO list, coordinate with office staff on The Happenings messages, and help craft the monthly newsletter. Experience with Canva or social media is helpful, but not necessary.
